Jimmy John’s Is Coming to Windsor

Posted on September 16th 2025 by Lalovich

Big food news for Windsor:  American sandwich chain Jimmy John’s is officially opening its first location in our city.

Known for its “freaky fast” service, fresh subs, kettle cooked Jimmy Chips, and giant pickle spears, Jimmy John’s has been expanding into Canada this year. Windsor is now on the list, joining other cities like Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Edmonton, Barrie, Winnipeg, and the Greater Toronto Area.

What makes the Canadian rollout unique is the addition of toasted subs, a feature not even available in U.S. stores. Combine that with bread baked fresh throughout the day, crisp vegetables, and their famous “Unwich” lettuce wrap for those looking to skip the carbs, and it’s easy to see why this brand has built such a following south of the border.

The exact location for the Windsor restaurant hasn’t been announced yet, but its arrival puts Jimmy John’s directly into the mix with other American chains that have landed in Windsor in recent years, including Firehouse Subs and Church’s Chicken.

What this means for Windsor

Food options in Windsor continue to grow, and the addition of Jimmy John’s shows that big U.S. brands see our city as a strong market. It’s another sign of Windsor’s evolving retail and dining landscape and it will be interesting to see how local sandwich shops respond to the new competition.
