Lakeshore’s $32 Million Investment: What It Means for Growth in Windsor-Essex
Posted on November 12th 2025 by Lalovich
Lakeshore is entering a major new phase of growth and development. The Municipality of Lakeshore has received more than $32 million in provincial funding to upgrade water and sewer systems along County Road 22 , a key step that will unlock capacity for 2,500 new homes and new commercial opportunities across our community.
This investment comes from Ontario’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund and will support the construction of new trunk sewers from Rourke Line Road to Amy Croft Drive near Manning Road. It also includes new pump stations, upgrades to existing systems, and back-up power to ensure reliability during storms.
Why This Matters for Local Homeowners and Buyers
For residents and future homeowners in Windsor-Essex, this project represents more than just infrastructure. It’s a foundation for future housing diversity, community stability, and investment growth.
• More housing options: The expansion will open land for single-family, semi-detached, and multi-unit homes.
• Improved infrastructure: New systems will reduce flood risks and improve overall capacity.
• Economic boost: Construction and long-term development will create jobs and drive local business activity.
• Future flexibility: With increased system capacity, Lakeshore can support additional dwelling units and mixed-use developments.
Phase one of this project begins December 2025 and is expected to finish by March 2029, with phase two completing by September 2031. The total project cost is estimated at $92 million, with funding from all levels of government: provincial, federal, and municipal.
