If you’ve driven past Lakewood Park recently and wondered what’s going on, you’re not alone. We’ve had a lot of people in Tecumseh ask us about the construction, and now we have some exciting updates to share.
The Town of Tecumseh has officially broken ground on a $3.9 million upgrade to Lakewood Park South. This is part of phase one of the Lakewood Park Improvement Project, and it’s already underway.
So what’s coming?
The project includes a brand-new all-season washroom facility, a water feature, a natural amphitheatre with an entertainment pavilion, and a food truck and event plaza area. The upgrades will be located at the north end of the park along Riverside Drive and Manning Road.
According to Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti, these new features are designed to support the community, enhance events, and give everyday parkgoers even more to enjoy. If you’ve seen the renderings, you know this is going to completely transform the space.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to wrap up by the end of the year.
Last year, the town installed a parking barrier arm gate system for added security. With the new features now underway, Lakewood Park is on track to become one of the most vibrant public spaces in the region.
We’ll keep an eye on progress and share updates as things develop. In the meantime, if you know someone who lives in Tecumseh or spends time at Lakewood every summer, send them this post. These upgrades are going to change the way we all use the park.
