Windsor’s New Downtown Ice Rink Is Officially Open

Posted on December 9th 2025 by Lalovich

If you’re looking for a new winter tradition in Windsor, this is it. The City of Windsor just opened the brand new City Hall Square Ice Rink, and it’s already becoming the heart of downtown this season.

The grand opening event is happening Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and there’s a full lineup of family fun, live entertainment, and seasonal treats. Whether you’re bringing the kids or just looking to soak up the holiday vibe, this event checks all the boxes.

Here’s what you need to know:

Event Highlights

  • Ribbon-cutting with Mayor Drew Dilkens and Councillor Renaldo Agostino at 11:20 a.m.
  • Public skating starts at 11:30 a.m. through the All Saints’ Anglican Church skate lending program
  • Music by DJ Chris James and performances by the Music Moves Kids Choir
  • Santa will be on site from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for photos and smiles
  • Free hot chocolate and popcorn (while supplies last) thanks to Tim Hortons and What’s Poppin’
  • The Waffle Truck will be serving warm treats for purchase
  • Face painting and holiday crafts at All Saints’ Church Hall
  • Fire pits, cozy Muskoka chairs, and free City of Windsor toques to stay warm
  • Fire truck display and mascot visits from local organizations

This new rink adds a fresh layer of energy to downtown Windsor. It’s part of a growing vision to turn City Hall Square into a year-round hub for community connection, recreation, and celebration.

Whether you’re strapping on skates or sipping hot chocolate by the fire tables, it’s worth showing up for. Downtown feels alive again, and this is just the beginning.
