Mr. Sub Is Returning to East Windsor
Posted on February 3rd 2026 by Lalovich
After several years without a location in the city, Mr. Sub is officially making its return to Windsor.
The new restaurant is planned for East Windsor, opening inside the Rose City Shopping Centre at Tecumseh Road East and Princess Avenue. The location will take over the former Pure Water Store space within the plaza.
For many Windsor residents, this marks the return of a familiar Canadian brand that hasn’t been part of the local restaurant mix in years. Until now, the closest Mr. Sub location was in Chatham, making this a notable change for the city.
A Plaza in Transition
The timing of Mr. Sub’s return lines up with a broader shift happening at the Rose City Shopping Centre. Over the past year, the plaza has undergone meaningful redevelopment aimed at strengthening its role as a neighbourhood retail destination.
Shoppers Drug Mart relocated to the west end of the property, creating space for a new No Frills grocery store. A smaller adjacent plaza was also developed, bringing in tenants like Mary Brown’s Chicken, Maverick’s Donut Company, and Tahini’s. Together, these additions have reshaped the site and increased daily foot traffic.
Adding Mr. Sub to the mix continues that trend and rounds out the plaza with another well-known food option.
Why This Matters for East Windsor
Retail announcements on their own might seem minor, but they often reflect bigger patterns. Established brands typically choose locations based on population density, traffic flow, and long-term confidence in an area.
In this case, the continued investment along Tecumseh Road East points to steady neighbourhood demand and a strengthening retail corridor. For nearby residents, it means more convenience and choice close to home. For property owners and investors, it’s another signal of stability and ongoing reinvestment.
For longtime locals, there’s also a sense of nostalgia tied to the brand’s return. Familiar names tend to resonate, especially when they come back to areas that have evolved over time.
A Small Change That Adds Up
As Windsor continues to grow and established neighbourhoods see reinvestment, changes like this play a quiet but important role. Redeveloped plazas, stronger tenant mixes, and returning national brands all contribute to how communities function day to day.
If you live in East Windsor, work nearby, or follow local development, this is one of those updates worth keeping an eye on.
